We are seeking a dynamic News Editor/Press Officer (Programmes and Policy) to join our Communications team. Your job will be to raise the profile of CARE’s humanitarian and development work by securing high-quality media coverage in UK-based print, broadcast and digital media. You will be planning, gathering, creating and selling in engaging and timely multi-media material through traditional and new media channels. You will lead press activity for humanitarian emergencies and a wide variety of our development programmes. You will also support media activity related to our key advocacy priorities, corporate partnerships and crisis communications.
If you have substantial experience of working as a news editor/journalist or in a busy press office, then we are very keen to hear from you. You will have a very strong news sense; and fast, accurate, creative and versatile writing skills, including for digital media. You will need significant experience of working on foreign news or on policy/advocacy issues, a proven track record of getting stories and quotes placed in the media and, ideally, some photography or videography experience, in addition to your excellent writing skills.
