Background

The Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) is an umbrella organisation for Muslim NGOs based in the UK. Our mission is to establish a healthy, accountable, effective and professional Muslim Charitable sector in the UK through good governance, conducting research, forming partnerships, enhancing cooperation, capacity building, and sharing experiences and ideas.

Job Purpose

The Project Manager will be responsible for the start-up, ongoing management, continuing development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, daily supervision of activities and reporting requirements under a project aimed at improving the capacities of Faith Minority Groups in England in line with MCF policies, principles and development approach; serve as a spokesperson, fundraiser and organisational advocate for Muslim Charities Forum’s work in England. The position is based in London, with travel throughout England.

Key Responsibilities

  1. With the MCF Team, develop and maintain a project Strategy in line with MCF’s mission, reviewing existing projects, project budgets and project execution strategy.
  2. Design work plan and manage implementation of multi-location capacity building intervention in England. Ensure project targets are met according to work plan deadlines, and that the project is adequately resourced to carry out effective programming.
  3. Develop close, effective relationships with institutional donors and project partners. Maintain positive relations and enhance reputation for MCF.
  4. Develop sustainable organizational and project funding through widening funding base, writing proposals, maintaining donor relationships and improving grant management and reporting;
  5. Communicate with members and project delivery staff in the UK
  6. Responsible for monitoring and evaluation of MCF projects.
  7. Ensure that MCF provides quality services that meet UK Standards
  8. Submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports by collection of information and data, data analysis and report documentation.
  9. Manage and prepare project record, reports and paperwork
  10. Contribute information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews in support of achievement of operational objectives; preparing and completing action plans; quality and service standards for maximised impact of projects,
  11. Responsible for the overall development of partnership strategy, approach and objectives in line with MCF’s strategy and priorities.
  12. Implement and manage project, operations, risk management strategy, monitoring & evaluation systems and budgets ensuring they are in accordance with MCF’s principles and development approach.
  13. Ensure sufficient and timely flow of management and operation information and reports to Operations Manager
  14. Facilitate the interaction, cooperation, flow of information and dialogue among the member agencies and institutional bodies of MCF.
  15. Stay abreast of the current events and practices in the field of capacity building via research, training modules, working groups and conferences.

Person Specification,/strong>

You should have a relevant academic qualification and at least five years of experience in the charity sector. Experience of leading a team, excellent interpersonal and networking skills and a strong knowledge of development programs, organisations and networks relating to sustainable development policy and practice are essential. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with a range of partners and should have a strong desire to influence practice to bring about positive change.

Core Experience

  1. Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (preferably economics, politics, sociology, development studies, humanities) or relevant experience
  2. Minimum 5 years’ work experience, with strong understanding of project management
  3. A proven track record of writing project proposals from a range of public, government and private sources
  4. Experience in designing and directing the delivery of projects and programmes
  5. Experience in financial planning, budget setting and management and accountability
  6. Familiarity with world of donors/grant makers
  7. Experience of working with Community based organisation
  8. Understanding of BME communities, including the challenges facing vulnerable communities in the UK

Personal Qualities & Skills

  1. Highly professional, positive, organised approach to work. Good at solving problems.
  2. Strong leadership skills. Able to inspire others around a common vision.
  3. Strong project management skills, including influencing staff remotely.
  4. Strong relationship management skills needed to form partnerships. Good at listening.

  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  8. Computer literate including Microsoft office (Word, Excel, E-mail and PowerPoint)
  9. Fluent English. Urdu or Arabic is an advantage
