At ActionAid we are delivering a bold strategy to provide sustained improvements to the poorest and most excluded people in the world. It means we are creating fantastic career opportunities for experienced sector professionals who want to be part of an organisation that is making a real difference. Join our Action to End Poverty Now and be part of something truly amazing.

Our new exciting campaign to make cities safe for women and girls, reduce their experience and fear of sexual violence in urban public spaces is scheduled to launch in July 2014. We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful individual to lead the campaign and its launch next year.

As International Campaign Manager we will look to you to lead the strategic coordination and delivery of our new international campaign for safe cities for women and girls. Working with colleagues across the Membership and International Secretariat, you will harness the power of the ActionAid Federation behind the campaign and lead a diverse team to launch and manage implementation of an effective campaign strategy and plans.

You will take the lead in developing initiatives, allocating resources and driving the campaign forward to achieve external change as well as internal organisational objectives. As well as managing planning and delivery internally you will represent ActionAid externally as you work alongside other organisations in international coalitions or tactical alliances to achieve campaign goals. You will also ensure campaign outputs and outcomes are monitored and reported on regularly and evaluated.. Important will be the ability to guide and strengthen the strategic capacity of countries involved in the campaign and to ensure the sustainability of the campaign through fundraising.

You must have substantial experience of leading and delivering high-profile international campaigns that are aimed at engaging communities, changing attitudes and behaviours of specific audience groups amongst the public and influencing decision makers and companies. You must have experience of campaigning on and deep knowledge of women’s rights issues, especially around violence against women and girls, including how rapid urbanization and poor public services contribute to women’s experience of and fear of sexual violence directed at them.

You must be able to lead cross organisational project teams, chair virtual meetings across continents, and you will be experienced in working with tactical and strategic alliances and coalitions in order to deliver a campaign. You will also have an excellent understanding of international political processes and institutions and of the international NGO sector. What’s more you will be an effective communicator with well-developed negotiation, influencing and planning skills. Fundraising experience will be an advantage, as would language skills for a work environment in French, Spanish or Portuguese.
