Senior Camp Coordinator - Iraq
We are looking for a highly qualified Senior Camp Coordinator to ensure the overall strategic implementation of the Camp Coordination and Camp Management activities of DRC throughout the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This includes supervising the Camp Coordinator in Basirma Camp and ensuring direct implementation of effective coordination and information sharing between all actors (government, NGOs and UN) present in Qushtapa Camp.
Who are we?
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC has been present in Iraq since April 2003. DRC is now boosting its assistance in Qushtapa and Basirma Camps by assisting local government in camp coordination and camp management.
Duties
• Ensure the overall strategic implementation of the Camp Coordination and Camp Management activities of DRC throughout the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (Basirma and Qushtapa Camps).
• Ensure that, through good coordination, all gaps in the assistance and protection of refugees are identified and addressed, whilst ensuring that duplication of activities is avoided.
• Overall day to day management of DRC’s camp management activities in Qushtapa Camp. This relates to information sharing, 4W’s matrix, and general collaboration. Line manage DRC staff working on camp management. This includes recruiting, coaching, ensuring coordination between staff.
• Oversee coordination in the camp among actors, including government representatives, UN agencies, international NGOs, national NGOs and other service providers and refugee groups by taking a leadership role in existing coordination mechanisms and enhancing the structure where necessary.
• Manage/support any DRC community services, youth activities, protection support and similar humanitarian programmes that may be undertaken in Qushtapa.
• In collaboration with DRC procurement and logistics staff, assist in any logistical arrangements associated with Qushtapa Camp.
• Undertake any further duties as the line manager sees fit. The position duties are flexible to a degree to allow the candidate to develop skills they personally identify. This can be arranged in discussions with the line manager.
About you
To be successful in this role you must have at least 3 years of international practical experience in INGO, among which at least 2 years in complex emergency contexts. Substantial experience operating in a refugee camp environment, preferably undertaking Camp Management and/or Camp Coordination activities.
Ideally you will also have an advanced degree in a relevant field; knowledge working in the Middle-East; knowledge of logistics and procurement processes; experience managing community services, youth activities, protection support and similar humanitarian programmes; experience in project development and proposal writing.

An interesting job in one of the best NGO’s in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant a six month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 9th February, 2014 and be willing and able to work in Shaqlawa, Erbil.
