Polaris Project operates the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), a national 24-hour hotline and resource center working to improve the systemic response to protect victims of human trafficking in the United States and abroad. The program is designed to raise the standards of the anti-trafficking field, to improve national and international levels of coordination, and to meet the urgent need of the field for accessible and comprehensive best practices as well as practitioner-based training, technical assistance, and strategic support. The NHTRC serves as a global resource center and training and technical assistance adviser for the international community on building and operating national anti-trafficking response mechanisms that serve victims of all forms of human trafficking.
The International Program Specialist will be primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and management of our international technical assistance initiatives which seek to equip countries with the necessary tools and training to successfully launch a national anti-trafficking hotline, incorporate human trafficking services into existing related hotlines, or improve the effectiveness of an existing national anti-trafficking hotline.
As part of the Global Hotlines Team, this role will help to:-Develop national hotlines training curriculum, toolkit, and other innovative hotline tools based on adult learning theory, instructional design, experiential learning techniques, and other standard learning theories and practices;-Design a feasibility/readiness tool to identify potential technical assistance recipients and oversee the implementation and selection process;-Conduct strategic outreach and cultivate relationships with potential technical assistance recipients which may include government, law enforcement, service providers, community groups, and other local and national stakeholders;-Research hotline models and conduct interviews/surveys with diverse national hotlines to create a hotline typology;-Conduct direct training and technical assistance for international audiences including NGOs, law enforcement, government agencies, and other key stakeholders;-Oversee the build-out and maintenance of the global hotlines database;-Manage data collection, and the design and implementation of impact tracking and evaluation systems.
Requirements:-Professional proficiency in Russian, Arabic, and/or Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred;MA or commensurate professional experience required;-Demonstrated experience in human trafficking or related fields and practical and academic knowledge of the global human trafficking movement;-Experience working internationally or with international NGOs, government agencies, and/or law enforcement;-Demonstrated experience in developing curriculum and/or training materials, on-line learning module development a plus;-Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills;-Experience with data analysis, and monitoring and evaluation;-Strong proficiency and comfort working with new and diverse technologies and systems;-Experience with cross-cultural relationship building and fostering collaboration among diverse actors;-Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on direct and open communication and provision of regular feedback;-Demonstrated commitment to innovation and creative problem-solving;-Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills;-Ownership and initiative, natural self-starter; ability to fully own large areas of responsibility;-Experience working in multicultural environments;-General flexibility and ease of movement between multiple projects and priorities;-Ability to work well under pressure, and maintain composure during stressful situations;-Ability to diplomatically balance competing priorities among different parties within governmental and non-governmental settings such as taskforces, coalitions, commissions, or advisory councils;-Limited international travel may be required.
