MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESIn accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Conducts regular supervisory visits to UNRWA’s Health Centres to ensure that programmes are implemented according to approved policies, strategies and procedures and that they are in line with the family health team approach;(B) Manages the implementation and evaluation of the Agency’s disease control programme in the Field s/he is assigned to; ensures that the epidemiology and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases and immunization programme are in line with the family health team approach;(C) Ensures that reviews on the Agency’s Disease Surveillance Systems are carried out periodically for the accurate assessment of the programmes’ efficiency and effectiveness;(D) Investigates health problems, promotes healthy behaviors and helps in fostering a safe and healthy environment;(E) Coordinates with concerned public health departments in the host countries the disease surveillance and control measures;(F) Guides and provides technical advice on disease prevention and control to the medical and nursing staff to enable them to keep abreast of the changes and most recent developments in the field; (G) Manages the development of research on disease prevention and control to keep up to date with new developments, techniques, procedures and scientific breakthroughs; (H) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES(A) Academic and Professionali) A university degree in Medicine from a recognized university;ii) Post graduate degree in Public Health.
(B) Experience At least seven years of professional experience.
(C) Language Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
(D) Competenciesi) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in team environment;ii) Very good communication and negotiation skills, sound judgment and demonstrated problem-solving skills;iii) Leadership and ability to organize and implement the health training programmes;iv) Supervisory skills and ability to develop staff;v) Very good analytical and reporting skills;vi) Computer skills; especially programmes used by UNRWA and health statistical applications;vii) Ability to work under pressure and cope with a heavy workload.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSA degree in Family Health Specialty.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThe incumbent may be required to travel frequently in the Agency‘s area of operations.

RECRUITMENT PROCESSThe Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIREDShort-listed candidates will sit for two tests:• Written technical test (100%).• Computer test (Pass/Fail), which includes (intermediate level: MS Word 2003, MS Excel 2003 and Basic level MS Power Point 2003).
The top 5 scoring candidates in the written technical test given that (i) none have scored less than 50%, and (ii) none have failed the computer test, will be invited for an interview.
