Chemonics seeks French-speaking chiefs of party for anticipated USAID-funded health projects in Francophone West Africa. The chiefs of party will be responsible for providing overall project leadership, management, and technical direction. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide overall vision and strategy for the implementation and direction of all project activities
- Serve as the project's primary liaison with USAID, international and regional partners, and host-country government officials
- Act as primary liaison with the Chemonics Washington, D.C., office in technical and managerial matters
- Supervise project technical and administrative staff, ensuring they are successfully managing project activities and achieving deliverables
- Work with government counterparts in defining project activities and targets and ensure close collaboration
- Oversee annual project work planning and establish procedures to measure the project's progress against the work plan
- Ensure compliance with the goals set in the contract and with USAID regulations and Chemonics' policies and systems
- Participate in regular project evaluations to assess progress and recommend solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public health or related field required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience required; 10 to 20 years of relevant experience preferred
- Technical expertise and experience in one or more of the following: HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, health system strengthening, communications, water and sanitation, and injection safety
- Successful experience as a senior program manager leading donor-funded international development projects
- Successful long-term senior management experience living in a developing country
- USAID chief of party or deputy chief of party experience preferred
- Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa or conflict/post-conflict regions required
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in French and English required
