Israel: African Refugee Relocation Resources Project Internship
Country: Israel
Closing date: 08 Sep 2013
The Relocation intern works in the Relocation Resources Project team based in Tel Aviv. The objective of the Relocation Resource Project (RRP) at the ARDC is twofold. Firstly, the project seeks to inform and educate asylum seekers and refugees in Israel of their options for relocation to a third country. Secondly, the RRP provides advice and assistance to those who are eligible to apply for relocation through various programs such as private sponsorships, family reunification visas, etc.
Interns participating in this project will assist clients in navigating various complex processes of relocation to a third country. Interns learn to work with the United Nations Refugee Convention and migration law (mainly Europe, USA, Canada and Australia). Tasks include: providing information, offering advice, conducting interviews, assisting with applications to various programs and visas, and establishing and maintaining communication with the clients, sponsors, immigration officials, embassies, the UN, Israeli government officials and others. The position requires the intern to keep abreast of the legal context for asylum seekers and conditions in countries of origin, as well as current immigration policies in countries of potential relocation.
