PURPOSE:
The consultant will be responsible to ascertain levels of participation and engagement amongst sampled youth in order to better inform programme planning, implementation and monitoring of results.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contracting a consultant to conduct a sample survey to understand a) active participation of sampled youth in key decisions affecting their lives (e.g. work, marriage, education, health, career and mobility) b)youth involvement in policy making and implementation and deliver the following;
- Brief review of literature , development of methodology, assessment plan and tools
- Field testing and revising tools
- Fielding of questionnaires/ - data collection
- Data coding and analysis
- Presentation of preliminary findings
- Incorporate comments and present final report to UNICEF
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced university degree in Sociology, Development Studies or allied discipline
- Minimum five (05) years of related working experience
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
Fluency in both oral and written English and two local languages (Sinhala &Tamil) required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Technical expertise in qualitative research processes, tool development and data analysis
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills: demonstrating an ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with a diverse range of people; provide clear and concise advice and guidance
- Ability to plan, monitor and manage tasks and activities to ensure timely and effective outputs
- Excellent communications and analytical skills
