The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.
The IRC has been working in Pakistan since 1980. The IRC is leading a Pakistan Reading Project PRP to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development (PD), systems reform, and civil society engagement.
Responsibilities: • Provide leadership and oversight to teacher training team for both pre-service and in-service training programs • Plan and lead implementation of teacher training activities in the region• Liaise with cooperating government and private institutions for implementation of activities • As necessary, design and or roll out monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure regular data collection, quality assurance, and regular reporting • Travel to field sites and district offices to oversee implementation and monitoring of project activities• Identify technical and operational needs and communicate them to the technical coordinator and/or head of office• Contribute to capacity building of teacher training staff • Assist technical coordinator in preparing annual regional office work plans and budgets• Contribute both qualitative and quantitative reporting • Ensure adherence to project work plans and performance management plans. Requirements: • Master’s degree in education of related field, experience with teacher training projects• At least 4 years of professional experience in the education sector, preferably international non-governmental organizations • Demonstrated experience in implementation of teacher training activities including coordination with district and provincial education officials, schools, teachers, and preferably pre-service teacher training institutions• Strong coordination and communication skills to ensure that project activities are implemented on time and with quality • Strong training and organization skills• Familiarity with primary teaching practices• Familiarity with the regional context• Fluency in English, both verbal and written as well as fluency in Urdu is required. Knowledge of local languages preferred
